Happy Weekend, you guys! First of all I need to shoutout to my girl Meg (hiiii!) who requested this post by commenting on my Instagram! Be sure to follow me on Instagram and on Snapchat so that you can keep in touch with me. I LOVE hearing your requests for blog posts, and will happily take them into consideration if I feel I am qualified to post on the subject! Feel free to also leave a comment on this post or email me your requests!
So, Meg told me her lips are always “dry and wrinkly” and I can totally relate because chapped lips are probably my #1 makeup concern! It is a real problem because I love lipstick and when you have dry lips this really limits the types of formulas you can wear! (Matte lipsticks are often super drying 🙁 ) Click any product name below to shop!
First, let me tell you some products that I do LOVE for dry lips:
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask – This lip mask is a thick, tacky consistency and that is why it stays on lips for a long time in my opinion! It is a little pricey ($26), but this is the best lip mask I have ever used! I put this on my lips before I go to sleep and it really does the best job repairing them as much as possible overnight. Plus, it will last you forever! They also sell some color tinted versions if you prefer those for wearing during the day. The flavor/taste is also very pleasant (sweet). If you are going to try only one product from this post, THIS IS THE ONE!
Milani Moisture Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment • $7.99 – This lip oil is so soothing for dry lips! It gives you such intense hydration with a glossy finish. These come in 8 different flavors, each supposed to have a different specialty for the lips. The ‘Almond Coconut’ one (above, right) has a clear finish and specializes in “moisturizing.” I also like the ‘Grapefruit’ which is for “revitalizing” your lips. I honestly think they are all the same aside from the tint of color, but hey that’s just me! Either way, I love these! They run around $7 but you can often find Milani on sale at CVS or Walgreens! I got mine for $2.99 each last month! Definitely check these out! I only have 2 complaints about them, neither of which is enough to stop me from loving them! 1) The amount of product in the tube is relatively small once you take the thick applicator wand out. A tube only lasts me a few weeks 🙁 2) They staying power is not all that long. You will definitely need to reapply this frequently if you are looking for long-lasting moisture and shine. Hence, why I use it up so quickly!
Jersey Shore Lip and Hand Polish – I received this in an Ipsy Bag a while ago and it is the best lip scrub I’ve ever used! The formula of this is like a mix of oil and exfoliating beads that has a delicious vanilla flavor. I would rub some of this on my lips each night and scrub in with a washcloth. It really did a great job helping to de-chap my lips. However…there is one major issue! I am hoping this was just a storage error on my part and possibly caused by not storing this upright always, but I cannot use any more of this because it won’t squeeze out of the tube! I got a good few weeks of use, and now the tube still has plenty of product, but I can’t get it out 🙁 I think what I may have to do is snip it open and transfer it into another jar. Hopefully that will work!
ShopMissA Sugar Lip Scrub – I recently came across a website ShopMissA.com where everything is only $1! I purchased this lip scrub as part of my haul from them (read all of my reviews of their products here!) This is a nice, average scrub. For the $1 price, it is definitely worth your while. I would prefer it had a tad more of the exfoliating beads, but it is a great feeling and flavor!
Now, here is one product I personally DON’T think is worth trying:
Patchology FlashPatch Lip Gels • $50 – I had been eyeing these for a while and was super excited to try them! I got them from Dermstore.com when they were having a 25% off sale, as they do pretty often! However, I am sad to report that I don’t really see much benefit to these. You place one sheer lip gel over your lips for 5 minutes and it is suppose to leave them intensely hydrated and soft. Maybe my lips are just chapped beyond repair, but I think the products I’ve recommended above are much better! Plus, these run $50 for 24 (regular price) which is quite expensive for a product that does not provide much benefit. If you still would like to try them out for yourself, Ulta does sell a travel size pack that is only $15.
