Winter Empties

Hey babes! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term “empties,” these are products that I have officially used up and are thus now empty! Usually, it is a good time to give a full review of a product once you have used the entire bottle/jar/etc and can really speak on your experience. Thus, I will now review for you the empties pictured below:

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner • $17.95  I comb this thru my damp hair after washing it to give an extra condition. Since I have long hair that can get sun and heat damage, I think this extra step helps keep it healthy. I think the price point on this is a bit high, so I would only repurchase when it goes on sale again (usually it does during Ulta’s big Hair Sales!)

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Pressed Setting Powder • $35 – This deluxe sample size was great for keeping in my purse makeup bag. I use it to set my CC cream I might use on the go, or to do a little mattifying if I notice my face has gotten too shiny for my liking. I think I generally prefer the loose version of setting powder so I would probably only repurchase this one if it was a travel size to keep on the go like this!

Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer • $32 – So I received this mini sample of the primer and I think it is kind of a bad idea. Because it is sample sized (this is about the size of a Chapstick,) it’s hard to apply this to my entire face without taking forever doing a million swipes! Maybe the full size version is easier to apply and properly cover the entire face, but this one was so frustrating to me! I won’t repurchase this because it just annoyed me! Plus I already love so many other primers of similar price points (read my post here reviewing all of the primers I’ve tried!)

Jergens Natural Glow Color Primer In Shower Scrub • $9.99 – I love the Jergens tanning mousse, so I got this because it is part of their little 3-step system (prime the skin, tan, extend the tan with their lotion.) This is essentially an exfoliating scrub for in the shower and does the job well! I have already repurchased 2 other bottles of this because they were on clearance at Target. I think they may be discontinuing carrying this line in my Target, but hopefully it will still be on the market everywhere else! I’d recommend this, however really any body scrub will prime your skin for self-tanning just fine!

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Zero Tanlines Matte Body Bronzer • $30 – I got this sample from Ulta as well and I really am not a fan! For one, this is a wash-off self tanner so it only lasts until you shower. I find it to also be pretty streaky and it requires more precise application than my favorite Jergens self-tanner. Not to mention the price point is 3x as much! For those reasons, I won’t repurchase this at all. I barely even wanted to use the sample to be honest. Only did for your sake so that I could review sufficiently 😉

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder • $38 – I love this stuff! If you read my Best in Beauty post (here!) you will see I picked it as my favorite setting powder. I got this as a sample from Sephora and have other setting powders I’ve been trying out to see how they compare (Tarte, Elf.) However, I would definitely repurchase this in the future when I run out and need more setting powder! Maybe during one of the Sephora sales.

Drybar Bay Breeze Hydrating Shots • $38 – I got this in my December Sephora Play box and it is basically an in-shower deep conditioning treatment. You use the whole tube at once and they sell it in packs of multiple “shots.” It was nice to use, but nothing special in my opinion. You can click here to read what my favorite in-shower deep conditioner is. I won’t repurchase this one.

Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cream • $55 – I adore this moisturizer and have really prolonged the life of my jar by saving it to only use on “special occasions” when my skin is extra parched or I need some major pampering. I love all of the products Skyn Iceland makes (full review coming soon!) and this one is one of my very favorites. I would certainly repurchase this again during one of the many frequent sales they have thru Ulta or directly on the Skyn Iceland website.
