Every so often (usually at the beginning of a new year), I like to share my favorite makeup items that I’ve gravitated towards again and again. Here, I’ll share (and link) my favorites in each category! Enjoy!
FOUNDATIONS:
I don’t have oily skin, but I still really enjoy both the Urban Decay All Nighter & Maybelline Super Stay Foundations which are both matte finishes. For a radiant finish, I love the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear.
CONCEALERS:
The Tarte Shape Tape is a tried and true great concealer. If you have super dry skin, you may prefer the Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer which I really like too and find to be a bit more hydrating! I also use the Too Faced Born This Way from time to time (I love the larger wand) and I’m also such a fan of the elf 16hour Camo Concealer (amazing coverage for only $6!). They just came out with a hydrating version too here.
SETTING POWDERS:
My favorite lately is the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder but I’ve used tons that I liked including the Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder, Hourglass Veil Setting Powder, and Becca Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder. I also love the setting powders in this palette:
BRONZERS:
The Tarte Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette is great for contouring and bronzing – I’ve been loving it lately! I also always love theBalm’s Betty-Lou Manizer and the drugstore Physicians Formula Bronze Booster.
HIGHLIGHTERS:
The CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops (in Moonlight) are the best liquid highlight ever, I’m obsessed! I put this down the bridge of my nose, above my lip, inner corners of my eyes, etc. I also love the Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter in Wisp.
FACE BRUSHES:
I think IT Cosmetics makes the very best foundation brushes! My favorites are the Airbrush Buffing Foundation Brush #110 and the Love is the Foundation heart-shaped brush – so cute! I also think elf makes some great affordable brushes – my favorite for concealer is the $4 Small Stipple Brush.
EYELINERS:
My favorite eyeliner of all time is the It Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner. It’s the best because it NEVER SMUDGES and stays on for a long time too. Plus, it twists up so no need to ever sharpen it. I also love the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon and the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner to do my upper lid winged liner.
MASCARAS:
My favorite drugstore mascara for years and years has been the L’Oréal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara which is AMAZING for length and separation of lashes! I also have been loving the newer Benefit BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara which gives a similar benefit.
BROW PRODUCTS:
I really love these newer trendy long-lasting brow products that last 1-2 days and are water/sweat resistant. The L’Oréal Unbelieva-Brow Longwear Brow Gel has a doe-foot applicator which I spread onto my brows, then combo thru with a spoolie and clean up with a q-tip after. The Maybelline Tattoo Brow Waterproof Eyebrow Gel has a spoolie-type applicator which is nicer and eliminates the need for a separate one to comb thru afterwards.
SETTING SPRAY:
I will always say the Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray is the best of all time! It truly helps your makeup last all day and night! They’ve come out with a bunch of versions for different skin types too here.
